Always my go to for chocolate, never a disappointment. Even the lollipops I got my kids are delicious. Next time I need to get myself one lol.

This is an authentic, spectacular institution in the community. My grandpa used to help with the candy-making there 75 years ago and I suspect the essential moving parts remain the same. Great chocolates made on-site. We get our Christmas candy there every year.

Oh my goodness. My husband brought this back from Wisconsin. Best chocolate ever. Mocha Meltaways are incredible. The chocolate coconut ones are to die for as well. Beyond delicious. What a treat!

Truly an Oshkosh staple family business! They make the chocolate there in house and walking inside it smells so sweet! You can mix and match different kinds of chocolates to make a custom box and you pay by pound (lbs.). Staff is always friendly, talkative and offer great suggestions. We get a box twice a year for ourselves and regularly buy boxes as presents for others. Living outside of the state now my family ships boxes over to me in TX I miss it That much. My favorite chocolate is the mocha meltaway. I love that the exterior and interior of the store has kept it's charm and (now) vintage look. It's a beautiful nostalgic feeling walking in and remembering all the times in my life I have been there. You can't go wrong with any of the sweet treats offered here!

Love the place alot. My children go any chance they can. My family has gone here for years. Every Halloween my children are there getting that goodie bag.

Yummy chocolate. If I worked there oh man I would be sneaking candy to eat all day! Oh heavens! The store has an old fashioned feel to it. The candy is superb they make the best candy canes for Christmas and they make Easter rabbits for Easter.

I was looking forward to going to Oaks due to their longevity, since 1890! The real reason we sought out a candy store on this trip is because we had been looking for caramel apples all day and couldn't find any. Lo and behold, Oaks had caramel apples, which had tons and tons of crushed peanuts on them. The peanut coating was to the point that all of the caramel was covered by peanuts, for under $4. These caramel apples were good, but not the best I've ever had. But since we were there, we took home a sampling of some of their other wares. Try the peanut butter meltaways. They were large and luscious. The peanut rolled chocolate vanilla balls were pretty good. The vanilla filling reminded me of Cadbury creme egg filling, which I am a fan of. The milk chocolate coconut balls did not impress me. The milk chocolate covered toffee was tasty. If I came back, I would get a good amount of the peanut meltaways and a bit of chocolate covered toffee. They also had some coconut brittle which I would be interested in trying, but the bags were rather large so we passed this time. I would spring for those on a future visit. Oaks also had a selection of non chocolate candies available.

Oaks is an Oshkosh institution, and no wonder: it's hasn't changed a bit in all the years it's been here. The store window sets the tone, with a display of candy and vintage candy boxes in the window. And it isn't in a mall or strip mall, it's in a corner store. The interior of the store is about the same, with boxes and bins of candy. You can choose and assortment, or take a pre-wrapped box of their fabulous house-made chocolates. These are wonderful and what most people are there for, but there are other candies available by the pound or package, and you can even get a bag of "seconds" - misshapen chocolates that still taste wonderful. The prices are very reasonable for what you get, and it's fun to stop in a support the same family business that my mom and grandma went to, back in the day.

I am originally from the Kansas City metro area, home to the Russell Stovers chocolate empire, so suffice to say I thought I had tried it all as far as varieties. I have also had some of the high end corporate brands like Godiva, Ghirardelli, etc, and I must say that Oaks leaves them all in the dust. They make everything in house and even walking in this place at certain times of the day is a real treat in and of itself. Almost everything I have tried there was first rate, but the true standpoints to me are the Meltaways, Clusters (similar to a nut truffle) and the nut rolled. So very delicious. The staff here is always super friendly and is eager to talk Chocolate. Just tell them what your preferences are and they will set you up with something that is bound to delight. Prices are on the expensive side for chocolate here, but that is to be expected in a place like this. The quality is worth the price. They also ship to anywhere in the US, so a handy place to stop when you need to send out a gift.
